Most people have a special love for something. Mine is definitely music which has shaped my personality, values and philosophy in life. I listen to various types of music to de-stress, enjoy, get inspired, even learn something from the tune or lyrics.
I’ve been into it throughout my whole life. One band and brand of music that has stayed through my life is the Beatles. Their songs truly touch my soul and fire my imagination. Among the thousands of songs they have produced is ‘Imagine’. Whenever I get a chance I will listen to it, play it on my guitar, and even sing it.
I have a very special love for this song because it is about possibilities and hope that we can gain if only we ‘imagine’ them. It has a parallel in my work as a coach for I, like other coaches, help our clients to reframe their minds for the positives of possibilities, hope and getting perfections in imperfections.
Its lyrics are so powerful:
‘Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today… ‘.
Isn’t this the kind of world we want to live in? It may not be there yet or will never be, but when we ‘imagine’ it, we will attain this mental state that keep us going in the face of so many challenges that we need to overcome.
Lastly, ‘you may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one’ because there are many positive people in this world, and together we champion for a new world that someday will be there if not during our time, we pray it will be in the future generation.
So, I hope some day more and more people will join me to ‘imagine to make the world as one’.
Here is my rendition of “imagine” that i sang with all my heart, soul and spirit at the St Anthony’s Dinner on 8 Aug 2015.
