We Malaysians are such lucky people. In any one year, we have many festivals and many “New Year” ones too!
Celebrations are an important part of one’s wellbeing, like the saying ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’! Having a sense of humor, experiencing a feeling of lightness, and the generosity of sharing joys not only make us more ‘full bodied’ but also goes a long way to make the world a better place to live in.
February 19 was the New Year for the Chinese as we usher in the Year of the Goat (or Sheep).
Amidst the frantic preparations such as house-cleaning, buying New Year clothings and also goodies, this is yet another time for us to take things easy, make space to be with loved ones, and even remember and pray for those loved ones who have gone on before us.
My mum and dad are already in my memories. As for my mum, the memories are still so fresh as it’s only a year ago that I had unknowingly celebrated my last reunion dinner and spent my last new year with her. I am sure they are both having a good time in heaven while we are celebrating ours on earth.
So Happy Chinese New Year and here’s wishing you good health, prosperity and a most fulfilling year.
